Dystopian novels are often a reflection of genuine fears in society. How best to explore an extremely insightful and dark genre as well as one of my personal favorite genres of all time? Capturing the language and symbolism of  George Orwell’s 1984, Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, Anthony Burgess’s Clockwork Orange, and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, Society UnBound is a fictitious exhibition celebrating the governments these works’ depict and the rebels who dare to oppose them.

A “defaced” exhibition catalog examines these books through juxtaposing the ideas expressed by their oppressive governments alongside the realities and concerns of the oppressed. In creating a catalog that feels like an artifact of one of these stories, the propaganda becomes a more tangible experience. A rebranded series of the these novels reflects the emotional typography of the exhibition’s identity.

Although my current home is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I’ve had the pleasure of working with people locally and internationally, including Landor Associates in Hamburg, Germany, and House9 Design, in Montreal, Canada.

As a visual designer, I’m concerned with impacting markets and social groups in a positive way through thoughtful research and cultural perspective. My academic work and educational background reflects my appreciation for perspective. As a student, I studied visual anthropology and German while actively working towards a degree in Graphic Design at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, USA.

My personal interests in the field involve the relationship between people and materials produced for them, exploring object culture through reinterpreting artifacts. I’m drawn to the differences between commercial goods and the meaning embodied in their forms, designing things typically discarded and reimagining those materials when they aren’t.
